AIHF ANNOUNCED THE NAME OF THE NATIONAL TEAM HEAD COACH
November 11th was the final day of Innagural AHL season: Yerevan “Lions” hockey team was able to defeat “Pyunik” in 3 straight games to become the first winner of Mkrtchan Cup.
“Lions” proved their power during the regular season, where team lost just once capturing the title of the best team of the season.
Throughout 22/23 season AIHF was working on analysing the candidates and possibility to participate in IIHF Division IV World Championship in 2025. After registering significant growth in the level of hockey and success of development program, it became official: Armenia is going to prepare to take part in the tournomant.
During the Cup and Awards ceremony president of AIHF Vahram Sargsyan announced that Vadim Guskov will be the next Head Coach Of the National Team.
Guskov has a deep background both as a player and as coach, capturing several individual trophies (Man Of the Year FHL, Most Determined player SPHL, All-Stars Team Member MHL) while playing, and winning current AHL regular season and playoffs as a coach of Yerevan Lions.
AIHF is currently working on the details of development plan for the National Team, which will include 12 in-season training camps and exhibition games.
