The International Ice Hockey Federation Assessed the Possibility of Holding the World Championship in Armenia

Yesterday, on September 11, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Karen Giloyan, met with Hannes Ederer, Deputy Secretary General of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and Head of the Tournament Organization Department, to discuss the possibility of holding the Division IV Ice Hockey World Championship in Armenia in 2025.

President of the Armenian Ice Hockey Federation Vahram Sargsyan and President of the Armenian Hockey League Pyotr Lebedev also participated in the meeting.

Ederer arrived in Yerevan to evaluate the sports infrastructure, hotel conditions, and to discuss organizational issues.

The Armenian national team will participate in the Division IV Ice Hockey World Championship, which will take place from April 12 to 20, 2025.

The IIHF representative visited the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, the Figure Skating and Hockey School in Yerevan, as well as the Gazprom Armenia Training and Sports Complex to assess the infrastructure.

The final decision on the venue for the World Championship will be made at the IIHF Congress, which will take place on September 26-27 in Greece.
